5 reasons to outsource your bookkeeping/ payroll

Updated: Oct 3, 2023

I have had some business owners ask me why they should use my services, and outsource their bookkeeping or payroll requirements. So here are 5 top reasons why:

1. No sick pay to pay

Everyone gets sick- it's normally just a fact of life (unless you are some super human- I salute you!) However, as an employer this costs money- so by outsourcing to a self employed bookkeeper sickness isn't going to cost you money.

2. No holiday pay

As an employee, staff are entitled to paid holidays (5.6 weeks/ 28 days for a full time employee). However, a self employed bookkeeper will not have to be paid holiday pay by your business.

3. Reduced office expenses

All businesses are feeling the pinch with increased energy prices, and no-one wants to sit in a cold office. By outsourcing to a local bookkeeper (or to one anywhere in the UK- thank you technology for offering remote bookkeeping solutions), you don't have to pay to keep them warm. Plus, there will be no expensive computers, printers etc to purchase as the bookkeeper will already have their own home office set up.

4. Only pay for what you need

When a business takes on a staff member they are given a contract with fixed hours (generally), so if their full time contract is for 40 hours then they will be paid for 40 hours. However, there might not be 40 hours of work available (probably not initially), so they are being paid extra. Outsourcing your work eliminates this, as you will only be paying for what needs doing.

5. Gives you peace of mind

You will be hiring someone who lives & breathes bookkeeping- they attend regular training sessions (at their own cost- not yours), they are up to date with the most efficient software, they are regulated by HMRC (or their qualifying body) and are kept up to date with the ever changing rules within the industry. You can relax knowing that your business is in good hands.
